Guru Smt. Sreedevi Yadlapati is an accomplished, versatile Kuchipudi Dance teacher, mentor, and artist. Her beautiful journey began at the age of six under the tutelage of Guru Bhagavathula Venkat Rama Sharma in Vijayawada, India. Smt. Sreedevi did her Rangapravesam at the age of 11. She performed in numerous recitals and was blessed with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in front of Swami Chinamayananda Saraswati and Swamy Sri Satya Sai Baba. In pursuit of her passion, she joined Kuchipudi Art Academy, Chennai, and Vizag India. and learned under legendary Gurus Padmabhushan Dr. Sri Vempati Chinna Satyam and Guru Kalaratna Smt. A.B.Bala Kondal Rao. By the age of 19, she had completed her diplomas in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam from Telugu University.
When Sreedevi was 21 years old, she went through patellofemoral replacement on both her knees and was told that she would never be able to dance again. She believed that the only thing that could help her heal was to keep dancing. Since then she got her bachelor’s degree in nursing and got her master’s degree in Kuchipudi from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. She performed numerous on-stage performances here in Texas for established organizations like TANA, Mudra foundation, Stalam Punam, and many more established dance school, and choreographed many dramas, the most recent being Ram Leela for Diwali celebrations.
Guru Smt. Sreedevi Yadlapati established Sai Nritya Academy, The Kuchipudi Dance School in 2000 to treasure and nurture our ancient traditions and culture among younger generations. She is currently teaching in the DFW metroplex. She actively supports non-profit organizations that enable, empower and educate youth and local cultural associations across North America and abroad.
